Childcare during the coronavirus outbreak - Advice for Parents

From Friday 20 March 2020 schools, childcare and other educational settings are closed. Government is asking schools, college, nurseries, childminders and other registered childcare settings to remain open for children of critical / key workers and vulnerable children where they can.

The Government has published a list of critical workers - please click on the link under 'External Links' on this page to view this. 

Every child who can be safety cared for at home should be.

If you are a key worker, your childcare setting has closed and you cannot safely care for your child at home, you can search for settings who are remaining open on this Merton Family Services Directory.

  • Click on this link: Childcare and Education

  • Put your postcode into the search box and search. This brings up all settings in order if distance from your home

  • Under ‘filter by’ choose' Coronavirus status: Open' and this will reduce the list to ONLY those settings that are open

This will give you a list of childcare settings that are open during the coronavirus outbreak in order of distance from your home.

You will need to contact them directly to see if they have a place for your child.
