Melrose School Secondary (part of Melbury College)

Melrose School Secondary is a specialist Secondary School in the London Borough of Merton for pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health Needs. Our Pupils have experienced a variety of issues in their previous educational settings and all have an Education and Health Care Plan to support the delivery of meeting their needs.

Pupils at Melrose Secondary benefit from high quality teaching within small classes and access to a range of qualifications, as well as the close relationships that are developed within a small setting where everyone knows each other and works together. We work with a range of professionals including having our own Safer Schools Officer on site three a week, a Speech and Language therapist, Educational Psychologist, a range of therapists including Nordoff Robbins and Jigsaw4u. All our pupils have access to 1:1 mentoring sessions, overseen by our experienced Greenhouse Mentor, who is a full time member of staff, who also provides a holiday program for part of the school holiday periods.

Our intent is for all our pupils to leave school ready to move in to the next phase of their lives with a range of qualifications, progressing on to College, a Traineeship or Apprenticeship at the end of year 11. Our curriculum offers both traditional GCSE courses and is enhanced by a range of Social Development Opportunities. These focus on pupils learning to work in groups to develop key life skills in line with the SKILLS-BUILDER Programme including communication, team-work and leadership and are engaged in a variety of activities to motivate them in a positive learning culture.
