Merton Mencap Holiday Play Scheme

Coronavirus status: OPEN

Leisure activities for children/young people with a learning disability and autism taking place on weekdays during the school/college holidays

"We run playschemes for children with special educational needs aged 5 – 13 throughout the year during the Easter, Summer, Christmas and half term school holidays. We organise fun activities, local trips out and people to come in and run activities to make sure that the children in our care have a good day.

Our trained and experienced staff support the children, with a minimum staff ratio of one member of staff to two children. Transport to and from home and for all activities is provided.

We cater for children with a large range of needs at our Holiday Playschemes, and work closely with social services to ensure we can support the children who use us appropriately and safely to make sure they have a good day with us and go home happy"

Referral Details

Access to the service is on a referral-only basis through assessment by Merton Council’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Integrated Service team (SENDIS).

Once Merton Council has made the referral to us, we carry out a home visit to meet the family and the child/young person in order to establish their interests and support needs, and to complete a Personal Plan.

The scheme is open to Merton residents only and does not accept out of borough referrals

To contact Merton Council (regarding them referring your child/young person for the Holiday Playschemes), contact your social worker/care manager (if you have one) or email the Merton Council SENDIS service at sen@merton.gov.uk
