Healthy Start vouchers and vitamins

With the NHS Healthy Start scheme, you get free vouchers every week to spend on milk, plain fresh and frozen fruit and vegetables and infant formula milk. You can also get free vitamins which help to give families the very best start in life

You will qualify for Healthy Start if:

  • you’re at least 10 weeks pregnant, or
  • you have a child under four years old.

You or your family must also receive any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit with a family income of £16,190 or less per year
  • Pension Credit; or
  • Universal Credit (but only if your family earns £408 or less per month from employment)

If you are under 18 and pregnant, you will qualify even if you don’t receive any benefits

You can use your Healthy Start food vouchers in any shop that is registered to take part in the scheme. There are over 90 registered retailers in Merton so look out for the Healthy Start sticker in shop windows, or ask inside. To find participating retailers nearby online visit www.healthystart.nhs.uk
