Social Communication Group
The Social Communication Group programme provides support for children with ASD or social communication difficulty. It helps children to develop their listening, attention, understanding and speaking skills. It also helps parents and carers to develop their confidence in supporting their child’s communication at home. The group is for children aged 2 years (24 months) to 3 years (up to 47 months)
Children will have a diagnosis of ASD or social communication difficulty (or are in the process of getting a diagnosis from a paediatrician).
Their communication will have been assessed as being very delayed in the three areas of communication - listening and attention, understanding and speaking. They will have been seen by (or be on a waiting list to be seen by) a speech and language therapist or a paediatrician due to concerns about their development. The group is open for eligible children who live in Merton and who are not attending an early years setting.
If you think the group may be helpful for you, please speak to your child’s speech and language therapist, paediatrician, health visitor, children’s centre staff or another practitioner who is working with you and your child.
