Social Communication Group Programme

The Social Communication Group programme provides support for children with ASD or social communication difficulty. It helps children to develop their listening, attention, understanding and speaking skills. It also helps parents and carers to develop their confidence in supporting their child’s communication at home.
Children will have a diagnosis of ASD or social communication difficulty (or are in the process of getting a diagnosis from a paediatrician).
Their communication will have been assessed as being very delayed in the three areas of communication - listening and attention, understanding and speaking. They will have been seen by (or be on a waiting list to be seen by) a speech and language therapist or a paediatrician due to concerns about their development. The programme is open to eligible children who live Merton or attend a mainstream school nursery, private nursery, preschool or childminder in Merton.
If you think that this programme may be helpful for you, please speak to your child’s speech and language therapist, paediatrician, nursery or preschool provision or another practitioner who is working with you and your child.
