Flying Penguins Explorer Unit
Explorer Scouts are young people, boy's and girls between 14 and 18 years old. They make up the fourth Section of the Scouting family. Explorer Scouting provides the opportunity to be involved in leadership, socialising and activities such as camping, hiking, rock climbing, abseiling, power boating, sailing, canoeing and they do all of this with their friends. Some Explorer Scout Units organise trips abroad others prefer to stay at home; it is up to the Unit and the members to decide what they want to do. The Leaders will provide guidance to the members as well as organise the activities. Four certificates of achievement, can also be undertaken, the Duke of Edinburgh Award and the Platinum and Diamond Chief Scouts Awards which may later lead those who are willing to put in extra effort to the Queens Scouts Award.
