NESCOT - Courses for students with additional needs
Seasons Learner Hub 1, Transition into Employment (TIE) and Progressing into Employment (PIE) pathways
The Learner Hub 1 is a supported learning environment for:
- Students with moderate learning difficulties and/or disabilities
- Students who have no formal qualifications
- Students who are not in education, employment or training
Entry to the Hub requires no specific qualification level apart from the ability to benefit from the course which is focussed on Preparation for Working Life. The course normally runs for 4 days per week. Students can study at a level that suits their abilities and are encouraged to continue onto mainstream vocational courses at Level 1 if they progress to entry level 3.
Transition into Employment (TIE) is an entry level 3 course that involves supported work experience placements in a range of local employers. This course is suitable for students who can work and travel independently but need support to settle into a routine.
Progressing into Employment (PIE) programme is a Level 1 course for students who want to leave college next year. You must be able to work and travel independently. Students undertake a one-day-a-week work experience placement.
